It is a treatment method which is known as root canal treatment (endodontics) and applied when the nerve (pulp) is so severely damaged that it cannot repair itself. The pulp is the tissue in the innermost part of the tooth, giving vitality to the tooth and responsible for the development, nutrition, and defense of the tooth. In general, bacteria in broken teeth or deep caries cause the inflammation of the pulp. If the inflamed or damaged nerve is not extracted, it causes infection in the tooth and surrounding tissue and tooth are lost. It is necessary to extract pulp tissue, clean the canal cavity, reshape it and fill with tissue-friendly canal filling materials. All these procedures as a whole are defined as root canal treatment.
It is preferred if there is;
– spontaneous pain in the tooth,
– a pain which increases at night and cannot be relieved by painkillers,
– the pain which is triggered by external factors such as cold, hot or tooth contact lasts for a long time,
–swelling around the tooth, gum and/or related adenoids,
– fistula caused by infected tooth or discoloration on the tooth
Root canal treatment lasts an average of 1 hour. In the first step, anesthesia (injecting an anesthetic drug and eliminating pain sensation) is applied to the tooth to avoid pain. Then, the decayed tooth is cleaned. Inflamed pulp (nerve) is removed. All the residue nerves and tissues in the root canal are cleaned. Canals are extended up to the root tip and canal irrigation is done with suitable solutions. If canal treatment will last more than one session, recovery is accelerated by placing appropriate drugs to the canals and a temporary filling is placed in the tooth between these sessions. After recovery, canals are filled with special tissue-friendly canal fillers up to the root tip.
Implant-supported prostheses are, of course, renewable. During the renewal period, previously made implants (screw section) remain in the mouth, only the prostheses made on the implant are renewed. Implant supported prostheses have a lifetime like other prostheses. You can prolong the life of your dentures by taking care of your denture care and oral hygiene.
After the implant operation, it is necessary to wait 3-6 months for the implant to integrate with the jawbone.
